Hembo™: Innovation in Hemorrhoid Relief
Hembo™ is a painless, new 45-minute outpatient procedure performed by an interventional radiologist. It is done through an IV in the arm or groin. A thin, coffee-straw-sized catheter is threaded over a hair-like wire into an artery. Using live X-ray guidance (angiography), the catheter is maneuvered into the arteries that supply blood to the hemorrhoids. Tiny, sand-like particles or coils are then injected to block the blood flow, eliminating rectal bleeding and shrinking the hemorrhoids. The entire procedure is completed without inserting anything into the anus or making any incisions. The procedure is covered by insurance.
Precision Procedure
Hemorrhoid Artery Embolization (Hembo™)

Painless Procedure
The inner lining of the blood vessels has no pain receptors, so the patient cannot feel the catheter moving or the sand-like particles/coils.

Results in One Session
Unlike banding procedures or even surgical ligation, which may require multiple procedures, Hembo™ is usually a one-time treatment.
Advantages of HEMBO
Minimally Invasive and Painless
Hembo™ requires no incisions, ensuring minimal pain and a quick recovery.
Quick Outpatient Procedure
Hembo™ is an outpatient, with same-day discharge after recovery.
Preservation of Anal Anatomy
Hembo™ preserves the anal canal, avoiding complications such as incontinence or stenosis.
High Recovery Success Rate
80-85% of patients improve within 2-4 weeks; 90% report no bleeding.
